Abstract
Early diagnosis of nephro-urology malformations offered followup and treatment postnatally.
Objectives: To compare prenatal and postnatal nephro-urology’s malformations via ultrasound and other accompanying conditions at National hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Methodology: This is a cross sectional study among infants who had been diagnosed prenatally with nephron-urology malformations at National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology from Jun 2020 to Jun 2021.
Results: no significant difference found between prenatal and postnatal ultrasound findings in nephron-urology malformations. The rate of correct diagnosis of renal dystrophy was 100%, renal atrophy was 73.3%, polycystic kidney was 67.9%. The sensitivity of ultrasound was 80.9%. The rate of other accompanied conditions was 21.0%, Non-anal malformations and low urinary opening accounted for the most among malformations with 4/24 malformations (16.7%), undescended testes and ventricular septal defect had 2/24 malformations (8.3%).
Conclusion: Achieving precious postnatal diagnosis of nephron-urology malformations required prenatal ultrasound. Combination of prenatal and postnatal malformation screening methods provide valuable tools for routine practice.
