Abstract

General psychology of infertile couples is often under pressure from themselves, from family members and society. Feelings of anxiety, guilt, inferiority, despair can be the adverse factors affecting the quality of life as well as the effectiveness of infertility treatment. Although assisted reproduction techniques can solve almost of the infertility causes, the overall success rate of each in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle is around 30%. The present study aimed to assess quality of life of these patients during IVF treatment. Objects and methods: cross-sectional study, from 4/2014 to 4/2015, a total of 100 infertile couples, who were examined and treated by means of IVF at the Center for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Hue University Hospital, was admitted to study samples and conducted interviews with the questionnaire FertiQoL International (Quality of Life Questionnaire Fertility - 2008). Results: The mean female age was 34.57 ± 5.06, the mean male age was 37.51 ± 6.30. The combined causes of infertility was 57.0%, 29.0% by husbands, 11.0% by wives, 3.0% unknown cause. The points was 64.04 ± 16.46 for emotions, physical health mental 69.83 ± 18.28; marital relations 66.29 ± 12.22, social relations 72.12 ± 12.03. Satisfaction levels of treatment quality was 68.21 ± 8.72 points, the impact of infertility treatment to mental health physically 73.63 ± 13.58 points. Total score 68.75 ± 11.09. Score quality of life between two groups of infertile duration, history of previous fertility treatment were significant statistically difference (p <0.05). Conclusion: Quality of life of infertile patients with IVF treatment was at medium level, the impact of infertility treatment to mental physical health was quite good. The quality of life in terms of the age group, education level, type of infertility is no significant difference. Quality of life score over infertility duration and history of previous fertility treatment were significant statistically difference.
