Abstract
Objectives: To determine the incidence of postpartum depression among H women and compare their epidemiologic and social psychologic characteristics to this characteristics of HIV(-) women. Methodes: A prospective cohort study is done at Dong Nai and Binh Duong province since November, 30th 2012 to March 30th 2024. 135 H women and 405 HIV(-) women are recruited to the research. Screening tool is Edingburgh test when the patients were hospitailized to delivery their babies and 1, and 6 weeks postpartum. Cut up poit is Edingburgh score ≥ 13. Women had Edingburgh score ≥ 13 before delivery were excluded. A structure questionnaire is used to collect data. Results: There are 403 postpartum women HIV(-) and 109 HIV infected women having enough inclusion criteria. The drop out rate is equal between 2 groups (HIV+: 10,1% and HIV-: 11,6%). Six weeks after delivery, incidence of postpartum depression in HIV(+) group is 61% and in HIV(-) group is 8,7% (p<0,001). There are differences statistical significant (p<0,05) between 2 groups for the following characteristics: Education level, jobless status, income, drug abuse, psychiatrics history, breastfeeding and baby care. Conclusion: There are differences statistical significant for the epidemiological and social psychology between 2 groups.
