Abstract

Objectives: To identify the prevalence of characteristics of the thyroid dysfunction in pregnant women in the first trimester and its some risk factors.

The material and methods: across – sectional study in 156 women at the first trimester at Bach Mai hospital ; National hospital of Obstetrics and genecology from 11/2014 to 7/2015 base on ATA’s reference (2011)

Results: The overall incidence of thyroid dysfuntion was 38.5% including hyperthyroidism (16.7%), hypothyroidism (10.9%), hypothyroxinemia (10.9%). Two independent risk factors for hypothyroidism were prehistorical thyroid deseases and anti-TPO (+).Woman with prehistorical thyroid deseases has 20.36 higher incidence of hypothyroidism than normal. One with anti-TPO (+) has 4,22 higher incidence of hypothyroidism compared to anti-TPO (-). The relationship between hyperthyroidism, hypothyroxinemia and the high risk factors has not been noted.

Conclusion: the prevalence of characteristics of the thyroid dysfunction in pregnant women in the first trimester are common . Two independent risk factors for hypothyroidism were prehistorical thyroid deseases and anti-TPO (+)
