Trong thực hành sản khoa, khi sẩy thai hay khi cuộc sinh cực non của thai thứ nhất trong thai kỳ đa thai không thể tránh khỏi, việc trì hoãn sinh những thai còn lại nhằm kéo dài thời gian trong tử cung giúp giảm tỷ lệ tử vong và cải thiện kết cục thai kỳ. Hiện vẫn chưa có đồng thuận trong quản lý và việc cung cấp thông tin chính xác cho sản phụ về lợi ích cũng như nguy cơ tiềm ẩn của chiến lược sinh trì hoãn vẫn là một thách thức. Bài tổng quan trình bày những cơ hội, thách thức và đề xuất kế hoạch quản lý thai kỳ trong thực hành chiến lược sinh trì hoãn dựa trên những bằng chứng y học hiện tại.
