Abstract

Oligohydramnios is a sign suggesting many important diseases of fetus, increases the rate of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Prognosis and management of oligohydramnios depends on the cause of problem.

Objective: Identify several causes of oligohydramnios in gestational age from 13 to 37 weeks.

Subjects and Methods: Prospective descriptive study. N = 194 pregnant women with oligohydramnios hospitalized at the Department of Obstetrics Pathology in National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology from March to September 2014.

Results: The percentage of premature prelabor rupture of membrane is 43,3%. Fetal abnormalities accounted for 16,5% cases of oligohydramnios, among which urinary kidney malformations is the most common problem (38,7%). There is 13,9% patient suffering from fetal intrauterine growth retardation. The cause of 26,3% cases of oligohydramnios is unknown. There is no differences in maternal age and obstetric history between different cause groups (p> 0,05). Gestational age at the first time of detection oligohydramnios depends on the cause of the disease statistically.

Conclusions: Loss of amniotic fluid is the leading cause of oligohydramnios in this study.
