Clinicopathological characteristics of patients with primary synchronous endometrial and ovarian cancers

Abstract

Objectives: To determine the clinical characteristics and pathology of synchronous primary andometrial and ovarian cancers.

Subjects and methods: Retrospective study on 27 patients diagnosed with primary endometrial and ovarian cancers ovaries from 2002 to 2017.

Results and conclusion: The average age of patients was 49 years. Non-specific clinical symptoms, abnormal vaginal bleeding is the most common sign (70.4%). CA-125 concentrations increased in almost all cases (86.7%), mean CA-125 was 173.7 U / ml. Ultrasonography revealed 21 cases with tumors in pelvic cavity (77.8%), 20 cases with endometrial thickening or with mass in the uterine cavity (40.7%). and 16 cases with ascite (59.3%). In 27 cases of uterine cancer, the most common type of endometrioid cancer (70.4%), followed by the serous adenocrcinom (18.5%), the clear cell carcinoma (7.4%), and the carcinosarcoma (3.7%). The two most common types of histopathology of the ovarian cancers were endometrioid adenocarcinoma and serous adenocarcinoma at 63.0% and 22.2%, respectively. According to FGO stage, almost cases are diagnosed at an early stage, 20 cases of endometrial cancer in stage I (74.1%). For ovarian cancer, 23 cases of ovarian cancers in stage I (85.2%).
