Abstract
Objectives: To research on some clinical features and managements of nulliparous women of advanced age
Methods and Material: A cross sectional descriptive study on 60 advanced maternal age at Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Hue Central hospital, from May 2016 to March 2017.
Results: The average age was 37.35 ± 2.97. The main reason of advanced maternal age were delayed marriage (60.0%), infertility (16.7%). Risk of pregnant woman were: anemia (18.3%), preeclampsia (13.3%), placental previa (3.3%). Risk of children were fetal distress (25.0%), preterm birth (23.3%), low birthweight (25.0%), congenital anomalies (5.0%), 1-min Apgar scores ≤ 7 (31.7%), neonatal disease (35.0%). Complication of labor: long labor (16.7%), postpartum infection (13.3%), postpartum hemorrhage (5.0%). Onset of labor: spontaneous (40.0%), induced (18.3%), elective caesarean section (41.v7%). Mode of delivery: caesarean section 70,0%, common reason is fetal distress. Risk of anemia, preeclampsia, long labor, postpartum hemorrhage, preterm birth, low birthweight, congenital anomalies, 1-min Apgar scores ≤ 7, neonatal disease, caesarean section increased by maternal age.
Conclusions: Advanced maternal age faced up these risks for mother, children and pregnancy outcomes.
