Abstract
Objectives: To describe the level of satisfaction among postpartum women who received epidural anesthesia for pain relief after cesarean section National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology (NHOG) in 2024.
Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 331 obstetrics who underwent CS and used epidural anesthesia for postoperative pain relief at the NHOG from January to May 2024.
Results: Overall satisfaction was high (96.4%), with satisfaction levels increasing sequentially for: service delivery (97.0%), pain management (99.4%), pain relief outcomes (99.7%), and medical staff attitude (100%). 37.5% of women would definitely return or recommend the hospital; 61.9% would possibly return, and only 0.6% would not return or would switch to another hospital. There was a correlation between dissatisfaction and women with gestational hypertension and pain during movement after 36 hours of surgery (p < 0.05).
Conclusions: The level of satisfaction with the pain relief package delivery was lower than other aspects, with only slightly more than one-third of women definitely returning for their next pregnancy. This suggests that the hospital needs to review its communication strategies and provide more detailed training for medical staff on counseling about the pain relief package. Additionally, focusing on pain management for women with pregnancy-related diseases or those experiencing significant postoperative pain is essential.
