Abstract
Objectives: to evaluate treatments of pregnant women with idiopathic thrombocytopenia at the National Hospital of OB/GYN in.
Methods: This was a retrospective and descriptive study involving all eligible participants.
Results: Among 62 women there were a 34 week stillbirth, a 36 week premature delivery and 60 cases of normal deliveries. The group was categorised into 4 sub-groups based on the number of platelets: under 30,000/μl, from 30,000 to 50,000/μl, from 50,000 to 100,000/μl and above 100,000/μl. The study found out that the ratios of caesarean section in four groups were 100%; 66.67%; 55.56%; 22.27% respectively. The ratio of platelet transfusion in four groups were:100%;70%; 33.33%; 0% respectively.
Conclusion: In the groups of women who got platelet under 30,000/μl, caesarean section and platelet transfusion were absolute indication. For the group of women got above 100,000/μl, there was no indication for platelet transfusion. For the treatments in the group 30,000-50,000/μl and 50,000-100,000/μl there was no significant difference between 2 groups. There was no hemorrhage in mothers and infants in those groups.
