Subjects and Method: Retrospective descriptive study on 239 pregnant women with up to 28 weeks GA undergoing ovarian tumor surgery.
Results: tumors from 6-10 cm have the highest rate (51.05%). Dermoid cyst account for 50% of tumors operated. Functional cysts have the highest rate in GAs of less than 13 weeks (19.18%). Result of surgery: laparoscopy has the highest rate 75.73%, mainly performed in GAs less than 13 and 13-14 weeks (91.25% and 77.78%, respectively). Planned surgery has the highest rate of 74.9%; mainly conducted at 13-14 and 15-16 weeks GA (93.94% and 94.74%). Rate of complication during and after surgery is 1.26%; only 1.25% is premature delivery and 0.84% spontaneous abortion.
Conclusion: ovarian tumors in pregnancy should undergo laparoscopy at 13-14 weeks GA. Functional cysts should only be operated if there is complication. Recommendations: women should be examined for early detection of ovarian tumors prior to pregnancy.
