Abstract

Objectives: Screening for preeclamsia in pregnancy at 11 – 13 weeks 6 days by a combination of the maternal factors, BMI, mean arterial pressure and uterine artery Doppler imaging. Methods: A prospective study on 253 pregnant women, who have performed the fi rst trimester screening between 11 weeks to 13 week 6 days, at Department of Obstetrics, Hue University Hospital and Hue Central Hospital from 3/2012 to 6/2013. Results: There were 231 unaff ected control, 14 of whom (5.5%) developed preeclampsia, 8 (3.2%) with gestational hypertension. There was a correlation between maternal factors, including miscarriage, abortion and family history of preeclampsia with the development of preeclampsia. The BMI, MAP, uterine artery RI and uterine artery RI were signifi cant factors in screening preeclampsia. Conclusions: Eff ective screening for preeclampsia is provided by a combination of maternal characteristics, BMI, MAP, uterine artery RI and uterine artery RI at 11 – 13 weeks 6 days.
