Abstract
Objective: To revisit the influence of the abstinence period on the clinical pregnancy rate of IUI.
Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study conducted at My Duc Hospital from April 2016 to December 2017. Infertility patients with IUI indications were treated according to the hospital treatment regimen. On the date of IUI appointment, information of abstinence period, sperm quality in the native and post-preparation was recorded. The main outcome was the clinical pregnancy rate.
Results: The ejaculatory abstinence period had no influence on the clinical pregnancy rate of intrauterine insemination. However, abstinence period had a significant impact on semen parameters (volume, concentration, motility and total motile sperm).
Conclusions: The abstinence period has no effect on the clinical pregnancy rate of intrauterine insemination, but could affect the semen parameters.
