The cryosurvival of human sperm after freezing in liquid nitrogen vapour

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the ratio of cryosurvival sperm frozen in liquid nitrogen vapor, applications for IUI and IVF / ICSI. Materials & methods: 94 semen sample in the normal range according to WHO 2010 criteria. Motility, vitality was assessed before and after storage in liquid nitrogen vapor. After that, evaluate the cryosurvival factor (CSF) and vitality of sperm after freeze-thawing. Results: After thawing, the average of motility percentage is 13.18%, SD ± 5.04; percentage of vitality 28.55%, SD ± 6.74. CSF and vitality after freezethawing were measured (40.73%, SD ± 13.72 vs. 46.31%, SD ± 9.92, respectively). Conclusion: The application of the liquid nitrogen vapor storage is simply, effectively for the treatment applications and low cost. This method should be applied for immediate ICSI, followed by applied for research to see if IUI can be successful.
