Abstract

This study aimed to verify the efficacy of atosiban used during embryo transfer on pregnancy rate in normal IVF patients. It was a randomized, double blind study. A total 300 normal IVF patients women undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection, who had embryos transferred, were randomly allocated into treatment and control groups. The atosiban group, including 150 patients, received intravenous administration of atosiban from 30 minutes before embryo transfer until 2 hours after transfer. Total administered dose of atosiban was 37.5 mg. In the control group, the same number of cycles was administered with nomal saline instead of atosiban solution. The clinical pregnancy rate (PR) per cycle seems to be higher in the atosiban group, yet the difference was not significant (53.3% vs. 46.7%, p = 0.248). The implantation rates (IR) were not significantly different between two groups (22.9% vs. 23.7%, p = 0.79). These results of the study have indicated that atosiban does not have significant effects on the pregnancy and implantation rates in normal IVF patients.
