Abstract
Background: Female sexual dysfunction was proved associated with various factors, but little information has been documented in Vietnam.
Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunction and associated factors in reproductive-aged women in Ho Chi Minh City.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study sampled 1,160 reproductive-aged women in Ho Chi Minh City from May 2013 to November 2013.
Result: The study has shown that the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in reproductive-aged women in Ho Chi Minh City was 34.2%; CI 95% [31.5 – 37.1]. The risk factor associated with female sexual dysfunction including sharing a bedroom with children, not open talking with husband, sexual activity less than 4 times per month, husband’s sexual impotence, living with husband 5years or more.
Conclusions: The prevalence of sexual dysfunction in reproductive-aged women in Ho Chi Minh City is at the middle level compared to surveys in female foreigners. This study shows several risk factors associated with FSD existing in daily life and can be improved. It is needed to counsel women on how to get satisfied sexual activities and to improve the quality of life.
