Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of ectopic pregnancy treated with surgery at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2023.
Material and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted from January 01st, 2023 to December 31st, 2023. There were 148 women diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and treated with surgery at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.
Results: The mean maternal age was 30.28 ± 5.4 years and most aged 18 - 35 years (83.8%). The majority of ectopic pregnancy were performed by laparoscopic surgery (99.3%) and the most laparoscopic approach was salpingectomy. The incidence of ectopic pregnancy with intra-abdominal bleeding < 500 ml was 85.1%. After surgery, 98.6% were in a stable condition, while 0.7% experienced complications. The β-hCG concentration decreased by > 15% in 90% of cases. The average hospital stay was 3.5 ± 2.8 days, and the post-surgery length of stay was 1.86 ± 2.1 days.
Conclusion: Possible risk factors for ectopic pregnancy are previous cesarean section, abortion, and history of ectopic pregnancy. Surgery is the most common treatment method with 88.5% of procedures is laparoscopic salpingectomy. The prvalance of complications after surgery is low overall. The postoperative length of stay in hospital is short (< 5 days).
